5 steps to correctly wrap PTFE raw tape

Step 1: Fix the pipe fittings and start winding them
Fix the fittings or joints with your left hand and tighten the PTFE tape with your right hand. Attach the raw material tape to the thread and start winding clockwise (for right-handed threads).
Tip: The winding direction should be opposite to the direction in which the pipe fittings are screwed into the joint to avoid loosening of the raw tape during installation.

Step 2: Cover the end of the thread
Start wrapping from the end of the thread, ensuring that the raw tape completely covers the edge of the thread, but does not block the opening of the pipe fitting. This can protect the threads without affecting installation.

Step 3: Maintain tension and wrap evenly
When winding, it is necessary to maintain the tension of the raw material tape and make it tightly adhere to the surface of the thread. Wrap 3-5 turns, slightly overlapping each turn, gradually covering the entire threaded portion. Ensure even wrapping to maximize sealing effectiveness.

Step 4: Tear off and smooth the raw material tape
After winding, use your thumb and index finger to secure the end of the tape, and then quickly pull it apart. Gently smooth the end of the disconnected raw material tape with your fingers, ensuring that there are no loose or protruding parts.
Tip: You can gently compact the wrapped tape with the edge of the tape reel to better fit the threads and avoid accumulation.

Step 5: Tighten the fittings
Finally, check the winding condition of the raw material tape and confirm that there are no loose or raised parts before screwing the pipe fittings into the joint. During installation, the raw material belt will be further compressed to form a stable seal.
